Academic Coordinator III

The appointee will be responsible for leading and coordinating all scientific software development in the Sali Lab, ranging from command line tools and software libraries to web services and larger applications, and encompassing the maintenance of existing software and the development of new tools, all in support of the Lab’s scientific mission. The appointee will also support the ~80,000 users of the software, both internal and external, by training users in the operation of the software, developing tests and writing documentation, and organizing and hosting both internal and external workshops and other training activities. They will also support the Lab’s compute infrastructure, working closely with campus IT and HPC specialists, to ensure that the software is used efficiently to generate research data. The appointee will work with other research labs to establish formal standards for the exchange and archival of research data, and will be responsible for securing funding to support the Lab’s research mission.

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related discipline. Strong software engineering skills, including extensive experience with Fortran, C, C++, Python, Perl, and SQL. At least 10 years of experience in Linux HPC and Linux and macOS systems administration. Proven track record of securing NIH and NSF funding. Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
