The Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care and expertise in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible or have completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery with involved experience in coronary revascularization at the time of hire. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Additional experience or willingness to adopt minimally invasive CABG surgery is strongly preferred, although not required. The candidate will also have an opportunity to choose one or two other clinical focuses, including aortic surgery, heart failure, transcatheter technologies, or others.

The selected candidate will also be expected to work collaboratively with other Departments and hospital leadership to enhance integrated care for patients and evaluate surgical resources. Successful candidates must have effective communication and collaboration skills. Research productivity is expected and protected time for research will be considered. The selected candidate should have a proven track record and publications, clinical research, and national recognition.

Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department’s residency/fellowship training and educational programs.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $135,700 - $360,600. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
