Position description

The Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics is now recruiting for an Associate Specialist.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Culture and maintenance of embryonic cell lines and induced pluripotent stem cells
  • Genetic engineering of stem cells using CRISPR/Cas9 and lentiviral transduction
  • Optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulation of cell function
  • Flow cytometry data collection and analysis
  • Conducting light microscopy and data quantification
  • Molecular cloning to generate novel DNA constructs
  • Written communication of methodology and findings
  • Experimental and project design
  • Mentorship of junior scientists
  • Initiating and shepherding inter-lab and inter-institution collaborations

Required Qualifications:

  • Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
  • Mastery of general molecular biology techniques.
  • Familiarity with genomic techniques.
  • Familiarity with molecular cloning and mammalian cell line construction.
  • Familiarity with data analyses.
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry and microscopy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Independent specialized research
