Position description

Specialist Position- Kroetz Lab
Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences
University of California, San Francisco

A Specialist position is available for research into the mechanisms of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. The scientist will be expected to plan, execute and analyze studies conducted largely in vitro and will mentor junior scientists in the laboratory. The specialist will also serve as the lab manager and will coordinate all regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Junior Specialist - a bachelor’s degree or four years of relevant experience
  • Assistant or Associate Specialist- a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.
  • Full Specialist- a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the in the relevant specialization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following techniques are highly desired: basic molecular biology and cell culture skills, CRISPR gene editing and screens, and the application of R and Python to analyze genetic and transcriptomic datasets.
  • High content imaging and analysis skills are also highly desired.
