Position description

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco, is seeking a Fetal Medicine Specialist/Proceduralist to join our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division in the Fetal Treatment Program. Clinical responsibilities include the evaluation, counseling, and management of patients with fetal anomalies who are referred to the UCSF FTC. The candidate must have expertise in obstetrical sonography and sonographically guided procedures such as intrauterine transfusion, fetal shunt placement, and laser therapy for twin-twin transfusion syndrome. The position also includes coverage of obstetrical ultrasound in the Prenatal Diagnosis Center. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Fetal Treatment Center Director and the MFM Division Chief on implementation, expansion, strategic growth, and ongoing operation of the perinatal program in the UCSF FTC. Excellent communication skills and ability to function in a consultative role are therefore required. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the candidate will supervise and teach residents, fellows, and medical students and have the opportunity to perform research. The candidate must qualify for a full-time faculty position as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at UCSF.

The UCSF Fetal Treatment Center was the first institution to develop fetal surgery, and combines the talents of specialists in pediatric surgery, genetics, perinatology, anesthesia, cardiology, radiology, nursing, and neonatal medicine. Our team of doctors, nurses, and social workers works together to coordinate all aspects of care from diagnosis to postoperative recovery and long-term follow-up.

The successful candidate must hold an MD or DO degree and be board certified/eligible in Ob/Gyn and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the time of hire. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
