The Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic Adult Cardiothoracic surgeon to be the Co-Director of Aortic Surgery at UCSF with vascular surgery. Candidate must be board eligible/certified or completed an advanced fellowship in aortic disease at the time of hire. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Candidates should also have extensive experience in treating diseases of the proximal and descending aorta. Experience with transcatheter therapies including TAVR and TEVAR is also strongly desirable.

The selected candidate will be expected to have a collaborative relationship with vascular surgery and be able to work well in a multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will be expected to help develop care protocols for patient management and flow, and lead quality improvement initiatives. The selected candidate will also be expected to work collaboratively with other Departments and hospital leadership to enhance integrated care for patients and evaluate surgical resources. Successful candidates must have effective communication and collaboration skills. Research productivity is expected and protected time for research will be considered. The selected candidate should have a proven track record and publications, clinical research, and national recognition.

Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department’s residency training and educational programs.
