Academic Breast Pathologist

The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time clinical faculty position as a Surgical Pathologist. The academic appointment will be at the rank of Health Science Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on level of experience and qualifications.

Qualified candidates must hold an MD (or its equivalent), have or be eligible for a valid California Medical License, and be either Board Eligible or Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology by the time of appointment.

All applicants must have or will have completed fellowship training within anatomic pathology or have its equivalent in clinical experience (3 or more years of sign out experience) at the time of appointment. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. Priority will be given to candidates with formal breast pathology fellowship training. Strong preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated interest/success in scholarly activities in their specialty area and with interest and/or experience in a second surgical pathology subspecialty (coverage of a second subspecialty area will be required).

Candidates are expected to participate in night and weekend surgical pathology call, departmental teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and fellows, and interdepartmental conferences. The desirable candidate will also have outstanding diagnostic and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $116,900 - $360,600. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
