ACADEMIC POSITION
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO
Assistant – Associate Professor Level

The University of California, San Francisco, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is recruiting for an orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in Spine Surgery. This full-time appointment will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience, and the selected candidate will be appointed to the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence faculty series.

The incumbent will participate in clinical care activities at our outpatient and surgical facilities and will be based primarily in the North Bay Area. The clinical practice will focus on all conditions of the spine with an emphasis on minimally invasive spine surgery. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching to residents as well as medical students and will be core faculty for the Spine fellowship. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate in clinical and/or basic research as well as publish subsequent results in peer reviewed journals.

Requirements:
Applicant must have all requirements met by time of hire:
• A valid California medical license will be required as a condition of employment.
• MD or DO degree from an accredited program.
• Completed an accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency program.
• Completed a Spine Fellowship Program.
• Board certified or eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
• Training and/expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery are preferred.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $135,700 - $213,500. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
