SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (USA).
The Department of Pathology at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of California, San Francisco are seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time position at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center with clinical service, research, and teaching responsibilities primarily in surgical pathology, cytopathology and autopsy service. This position will hold a faculty appointment at the University of California, San Francisco at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the HS Clinical or Clinical X series.
Candidates must have an MD (or equivalent) degree, be licensed to practice in California (or another state), and be Board Certified (or eligible at the time of hire) in Anatomic Pathology. Candidates must also have fellowship training in Cytopathology and Surgical Pathology (preferred) or other surgical pathology subspecialty (Gastrointestinal or Dermato- pathology). Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Clinical duties will include sign-out responsibilities in cytopathology, surgical pathology, autopsy service, frozen section coverage, performance of inpatient and outpatient fine needle aspiration biopsies, rapid on-site adequacy assessments, night and weekend call, and presentation at tumor boards and interdepartmental conferences. Participation in teaching (including resident training in Anatomic Pathology and medical student teaching), research, and quality improvement activities is expected.
Appointment and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training.
