The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is recruiting up to 3 full-time or part-time faculty members for appointment at the Assistant or Associate rank of the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series. Academic rank is commensurate with experience. These appointments will be based at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG), the UCSF-affiliated safety net hospital.
The successful candidates will become members of the Pediatric Division at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, a dynamic group of 40 faculty members who are dedicated to health equity, scholarship, patient care, and medical education. Preference will be given to candidates with outstanding clinical and teaching skills, a demonstrated commitment to urban, underserved pediatric patients, and a demonstrated commitment to academic medicine and education.
Primary duties will include clinical work in the outpatient Children’s Health Center (CHC) in primary, urgent, and/or specialty care. In addition, qualified candidates may be eligible for special projects in the future.
There are opportunities to include FTE for inpatient clinical work on the pediatric hospitalist and nocturnist services for interested and qualified candidates. Nocturnist duties include attending high-risk deliveries, neonatal resuscitation and stabilization, clinical management of pediatric inpatients and critically ill neonates, and consultation for pediatric patients in the emergency department.
- Board certification (or eligibility) in Pediatrics
- California medical licensure or eligibility
- Experience providing outpatient clinical care to children from birth through 21 years of age
- Demonstrated commitment to urban underserved pediatric patients
- Demonstrated skills in collaborative teamwork
- Experience working with and supervising residents and medical students in a clinical setting
- For nocturnists, strong clinical skills in neonatal resuscitation, care of critically ill neonates, and inpatient care of pediatric patients as well as NRP & PALS certification
- Bilingual (particularly Spanish)
- Experience caring for children with significant social challenges and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
- For nocturnists, strong procedural skills, including neonatal intubation, umbilical catheterization, and needle thoracentesis

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
