Goldberg Lab – Junior Specialist
Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology seeks a Junior Specialist for the Goldberg Lab. The ideal candidate will have taken relevant courses or lab training in metabolism and/or immunology. The candidate will be trained to isolate immune cells from mice/mouse organs for in vitro experiments. The candidate will also be trained in standard mouse handling techniques and PCR for genotyping and mouse colony management. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for managing and ordering lab supplies. The candidate will be expected to attend and present at weekly internal lab meetings and multi-group meetings.

Qualifications:

  • BS or BA in a biological sciences field by start date
  • Willingness to work with live mice
  • 6 months of lab experience (hands-on lab courses are acceptable)
  • Applicant materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Independent specialized research
  • Highly organized
  • Experience maintaining updated lab notebook
  • Prior experience with western blot, PCR, RNA extraction
  • Experience with using or principles of flow cytometry, microscopy
