Academic Head and Neck Pathologist

The Department of Pathology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time clinical faculty position with expertise in Head and Neck Pathology. The academic appointment will be at the rank of Health Sciences Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series, and will be determined by qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The incumbent is expected to participate in night and weekend surgical pathology call, departmental teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and fellows, and interdepartmental conferences.
Qualified candidates must hold an MD (or MD equivalent), hold a license to practice in the State of California or qualifications to obtain one by time of appointment, and be board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology. Applicants with fellowship training within anatomic pathology with diagnostic expertise in Head and Neck Pathology or have its equivalent in clinical experience at the time of appointment will be given priority; this must be noted in the CV. Precedence will be given to applicants who have completed cytopathology fellowship with eligibility or certification in Cytopathology; applicant’s material must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. The ideal candidates should have demonstrated interest/success in scholarly activities in Head and Neck Pathology and/or Cytopathology. The desirable candidate will also have outstanding diagnostic and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
