Position description

Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Adjunct series

The University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing seek faculty experts for didactic and clinical teaching in the Advanced Practice Nursing graduate programs. The APN programs offer both in-person and online coursework. These faculty positions will be 10-100% FTE, appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Adjunct series. Faculty positions are open to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), including nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, and nurse midwives, and those in related health professions. Faculty will be appointed to one of the following School of Nursing departments: Department of Family Health Care Nursing or Community Health Systems. Departmental affiliation will be based on his/her area of expertise.

Advanced Practice Nursing Faculty Candidates:

Faculty Position Responsibilities may include:
• Teaching didactic coursework via in-person, remote, and/or hybrid modalities;
• Curriculum design, development, implementation, and evaluation;
• Academic advisement;
• Oversight of student development of clinical competencies and role development through conducting weekly clinical conferences, monitoring student performance in clinical settings, and/or evaluating clinical assignments;
• Collaborating and closely coordinating with academic and clinical teams across multiple systems;
• Oversight and recruitment of clinical placements aligned with the specialty curriculum;
• Recruiting and retaining a talented and diverse student cohort;
• Participating in School of Nursing committees and in professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications for Nursing profession:
• Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Active, valid California RN and NP/CNS/CNM licensure, or eligibility.
• Minimum one (1) year experience with APRN clinical practice.
• National certification as a NP/CNS/CNM at the time of employment.
• Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.

Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree – PhD, EdD, or DNP.
• Two or more years of clinical experience as an APRN working with underserved patient population.
• Evidence of teaching excellence, experience in patient care, and involvement in other scholarly and/or other creative activities.
• Academic preparation in curriculum development, teaching methodologies and supervised teaching residency/practicum.
• Academic and clinical teaching experience with APRN students/residents.
• Multilingual skills, including: Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and/or Middle Eastern languages.

Related Health Profession Faculty Candidates:
Graduate-prepared candidates with expertise in the skills and knowledge base that are common across health professions (e.g., mental health assessment, psychotherapy, nutrition) are sought for 10-100% FTE positions that will be focused on teaching specific areas of knowledge and skill that are included in clinical practice.

• Two or more years of clinical and teaching experience in their profession.
• Evidence of teaching excellence, experience in patient care, and involvement in other scholarly activities.
• Academic preparation in curriculum development, teaching methodologies and supervised teaching residency/practicum.
• Academic and clinical teaching experience with APRN students/residents.
• Multilingual skills, including: Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and/or Middle Eastern languages.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5: https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2022-23/oct-2022-salary-scales/t5-summary.pdf. The minimum base salary range for this position is $90,500 - $284,100. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
