Position description

We are currently seeking a Research Specialist to investigate the molecular mechanisms of Chlamydia pathogenesis. The specific project involves investigating how a Chlamydial protein hijacks host SNARE proteins. The candidate will also be required to participate in all aspects of the laboratory activities, including lab meetings, relevant seminars and journal clubs, and training interactions with other students and colleagues in the laboratory. In addition, the candidate will be required to attend or complete online certification and training courses that are relevant to your laboratory work.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Mammalian cell culture and transfection
• Growth, propagation, and titering of Chlamydia
• Cell analysis (cell counting, FACS, etc.)
• Protein purification
• Quantitative confocal static and time lapse live cell microscopy
• Cloning in bacteria and other standard molecular biology techniques
• RNAi
• Mammalian cell transfection
• RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, PCR

Requirements:
• PhD in Microbiology or Cell biology and at least 4 years of postdoctoral experience
• Extraordinary attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
• Ability to think independently and design research experiments
• Must be highly collaborative, team-oriented, and an effective communicator
• Must have experience working
• Mammalian cell culture and transfection
