Position description

The Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for a part-time faculty position at the Assistant rank, in the Adjunct series, with a start date as early as of Jan 2022.

The UCSF Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences provides a supportive academic environment for research and ample opportunities for collaboration, including with the Center to Address Disparities in Children’s Oral Health and the Bakar Computational Health Sciences Institute, as well as, teaching and mentoring as part of our predoctoral dental program and the postdoctoral residency program in dental public health.

Duties/Responsibilities: The successful candidate will join the Division of Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health, and is expected to conduct health equity, bioinformatics, and quantitative and qualitative evaluation research; build up their own research program; assist in the administration, teaching, and mentoring in the postdoctoral dental public health residency program; and teaching in the predoctoral dental program. We will consider any area of research compatible with current departmental programs. This is an opportunity to join a collegial and productive team of researchers, educators, and program administrators at one of the nation’s top dental research institutions.

Required Qualifications:
• DDS degree or equivalent
• MPH degree or equivalent
• Certification by the American Board of Dental Public Health (ABDPH)
• Minimum five years of dental school teaching and mentoring experience
• US dental license
• Research publications in peer reviewed journals

Preferred Qualifications:
• Administrative or leadership experience
• Public health work experience
• Health disparities / health equity research experience
• Bioinformatics research experience
• Ability to obtain funding through grants or sponsorship
• Current research funding
