Assistant/Associate Specialist in Liver Tissue Engineering – Chang Laboratory
University of California, San Francisco

The Chang Laboratory for Liver Tissue Engineering is seeking a dedicated scientist to fill a Research Specialist position at the Assistant or Associate rank, and to join our team working towards the goal of developing novel tissue-based therapies to treat end-stage liver disease. The Specialist will spearhead and conduct studies involving human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived liver organoids and downstream applications in three-dimensional tissue fabrication, cryopreservation, and transplantation into animal models. The Specialist will write papers, present at meetings, and advise students in the lab. The Chang Laboratory is committed to mentoring the career development of our lab members and to broadening participation of under-represented groups in biomedical research.

Candidates with experience in tissue culture, molecular biology, rodent animal models, and/or bioinformatics, and/or with knowledge of liver biology, pathophysiology, and/or metabolic processes are highly encouraged to apply.

Candidates should also have the following qualities: 1) collaborative team player, 2) scientifically rigorous, 3) strong written and oral communication skills, and 4) passionate about scientific discovery and the positive difference science can make in people’s lives.

Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess (or be in the process of obtaining) a Master’s degree in the biomedical science field or must have at least 5 years of research experience.

Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess (or be in the process of obtaining) a Master’s degree or PhD degree (or equivalent) in the biomedical science field or must have at least 5-10 years of research experience.
