Position description

Chief of Gastroenterology, San Francisco VA Health Care System

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) are seeking applications for the position of Chief, Gastroenterology Division at the SFVAHCS. The SFVAHCS GI Division is one of three sites within the UCSF Department of Medicine Gastroenterology fellowship program.

Clinical operations within SFVAHCS GI Division are robust and include hepatology, general GI, inflammatory bowel disease, and routine and advanced endoscopy for ~30,000 Northern California Veterans. In addition to providing oversight of clinical programs and serving in a major leadership role within SFVAHCS, the division chief will work collaboratively across UCSF sites to support and promote research and education. Substantial resources are provided to SFVAHCS division chief position to grow and sustain a strong research program.

Qualified applicants will have an MD, current medical license, and board-certification in Gastroenterology. The ideal candidate will be suitable for UCSF academic appointment in the UCSF In Residence, Clinical X, or Health Sciences Clinical Series at the level of associate or full professor. This is typically evidenced by a track record of exceptional leadership skills, success in mentorship, outstanding teaching, clinical excellence, robust scholarly or creative work, and extramural funding.
