Position description

The Nelson Lab at UCSF ( is looking for a new research assistant! Our lab investigates the cellular and circuit mechanisms motor control, and how they go awry in Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders. We use a combination of electrophysiology, imaging, optogenetics and behavior to study basal ganglia circuits in mouse models.

• Junior rank: Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience or related discipline
• Assistant rank: A master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in Neuroscience or related discipline or at least five years of research experience.
• 1+ years Neuroscience laboratory experience, including rodent handling and immunohistochemistry.
• Candidate’s must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment. Candidate’s CV or cover letter must state basic qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.

• Mouse behavioral assays, stereotaxic surgery, and/or physiology.
