Job Description:
The Department of Laboratory Medicine, University of California San Francisco School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Pathology Generalist for a full-time faculty position at the Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland (BCHO), CA. The selected candidate will be appointed at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in either the HS Clinical or Clinical X career tracks at UCSF, depending on qualifications and interests. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and hold/be eligible for a California medical license. As a Pediatric Pathology Generalist at BCHO, you will be expected to share responsibility for diagnostic activities in both Anatomic Pathology and the Clinical Laboratory, on-call coverage, and conference support with other members of the department faculty. Sign-out responsibilities for Anatomic Pathology and Hematopathology, including the entire spectrum of leukemia and hematologic disorders will be a primary focus. Clinical laboratory responsibilities may include providing leadership to Clinical Laboratory Sections at BCHO, such as Flow Cytometry, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Diagnosis, or Point of Care Testing. You will be working with staff in the laboratory to ensure procedures for clinical testing are appropriate and meet accreditation requirements. You will also work with other UCSF faculty at BCHO and San Francisco sites (Parnassus, Mission Bay) to implement the academic mission of Laboratory Medicine, which includes support of translational research and training of Pathology/Laboratory Medicine residents.
