Faculty Position, Reproductive Health

The Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking faculty members with expertise in quantitative reproductive health research. We are particularly interested in researchers with experience in contraception and HIV prevention, social networking, health economics, health services research and/or program evaluation.
We seek social scientists (PhD or DPrH) with extensive experience and a distinguished publication record. This is a soft money position; successful candidates need to have full funding for three years. Academic rank and track will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Bixby Center
The Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health merges social science with clinical science to improve reproductive and sexual health for women in the U.S. and around the world. Founded in 1999, the Bixby Center includes more than 150 talented faculty, fellows, and staff representing a range of disciplines, including nursing, medicine, sociology, anthropology, demography, epidemiology, law, and public health, and hailing from numerous UCSF departments and institutes, such as the Departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, Pediatrics, and Family and Community Medicine; the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies and Global Health Sciences.
Bixby comprises diverse programs including ANSIRH, Beyond the Pill, Fellowship in Family Planning, Innovating Education in Reproductive Health, Ryan Residency Program, as well as international programs such as Safe Motherhood, Family AIDS Care & Education Services (FACES) in Kenya and the UCSF-University of Zimbabwe Collaborative Research Programme. Bixby conducts research, training, evaluation, and policy analysis in the areas of family planning, abortion, adolescent reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV, and maternal health. Over the years, Bixby’s work has changed policy, clinical care, medical education and laws.
Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences (Ob/Gyn & RS) is a major academic department in the School of Medicine, engaged in clinical, research, and training activities at the Parnassus, Mt. Zion and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) campuses, the new Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital at Mission Bay, and satellite locations throughout the Bay Area, with an annual operating budget of $77.2 million. The Department has 102 full-time faculty, 136 other academic appointees, 39 post-doctoral fellows, 20 clinical fellows, 36 residents, 136 voluntary clinical faculty, and 266 staff.
