Associate/Full Level Professor of Surgery – Adult Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Director of Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support

The Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco is seeking outstanding candidates for a full time academic Adult Cardiothoracic surgeon to be the Director of Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support and proven leadership skills. Candidates with additional experience in lung transplantation are strongly encouraged to apply.
The selected candidate will be expected to maintain oversight on donor selection, improve clinical outcomes and care protocols for patient management and flow, and lead quality improvement initiatives. The selected candidate will also be expected to work collaboratively with other Departments and hospital leadership to enhance integrated care for patients and evaluate surgical resources. Successful candidates must have effective communication and collaboration skills. Research productivity is expected and protected time for research will be considered. The selected candidate should have a proven track record and publications, clinical research, and national recognition.
Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department’s residency training and educational programs.
