Position description

Dr. Yin Shen's laboratory at the Institute for Human Genetics and the Department of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, has a research position to study non-coding genetic variants using functional genomics approaches. The ideal candidate will work closely with the PI and other lab members to interrogate the contributions of non-coding genetic variations specific to humans using iPSC models and next-generation sequencing. This job's primary responsibility includes differentiating iPSCs to neurons, testing DNA sequences with CRISPR tools, molecular cloning and sequencing, recording keeping, and summarizing results. The candidate is also required to work closely with bioinformaticians for data process and interpretation.

Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
