Title: Specialty Coordinator, Health Sciences Clinical Professor, Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (ACPNP)
Series & Rank: Assistant, Associate, or Full Health Sciences Clinical Professor

The Department of Family Health Care Nursing is seeking a Specialty Coordinator for a full-time faculty position to provide leadership and teach in the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (ACPNP) specialty. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full rank in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical Professor series depending on qualifications and interests.

Faculty in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series are salaried appointees who teach, participate in patient care, participate in University and/or public service, and conduct scholarly and/or creative activities. Faculty in this series teach the application of basic sciences and the mastery of clinical care and procedures in all areas related to care of patients. Clinical practice opportunities may be available as a percentage of the position.

Teaching Responsibilities Include:
• Teach Advance Practice Nursing students in the classroom, skills lab/simulation, and clinical setting with a focus in acute, chronic and/or primary care pediatrics;
• Coordinate and/or supervise ACPNP students in the clinical environment for clinical rotations; maintain communication and collaboration with clinical preceptors;
• Advise and mentor ACPNP students; provide remediation as needed.

Leadership Responsibilities Include:
• Serve as a representative of the ACPNP specialty and conduit of communication to/from the Master’s Program Director and Associate Dean, Academic Programs.
• Provide leadership to ensure congruence with academic degree Program and NP Program requirements through revisions in specialty track operations, policies, guidelines, curriculum, and clinical training compliance.
• Collaborate with Department Chair, or designee, in the assignment of faculty to specialty and clinical core curriculum.
• Oversee specialty admission processes, coordinating with Office of Student Affairs (OSA), and development of specialty-focused student orientation.
• Assign admitted students to advisors within the specialty and advise OSA and the specialty faculty.
• Oversee administrative functions such as: review/approve student transfers into/out of specialty; complete alumni certification/licensure forms; communicate with national certification agencies, etc.
• Oversee development and implementation of specialty orientation and student community building activities.
• Manage specialty funding to support specialty-specific activities and resources.
• Coordinate with various clinics to ensure appropriate training for students and to provide support to the clinical sites.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Specialty preparation as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner at the master’s, post-master’s, or DNP level
• Active Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing license issued by the California BRN, or eligibility
• National Certification as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)
• Two or more years of clinical experience as an advanced practice nurse in pediatric acute care or chronic/specialty care settings

Desired Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) or a related field
• Two or more years of classroom and/or clinical teaching experience with Advanced Practice Nursing students at the graduate level
• Evidence of teaching excellence in classroom and/or clinical environments
• Evidence of strong leadership skills in clinical and/or academic settings
• Academic preparation in curriculum development, teaching methodologies, and supervised teaching residency/practicum
• Clinical experience working with underserved and diverse pediatric populations
• Clinical experience working in interprofessional pediatric team-based care
• Experience with hybrid and/or online teaching
• Participation and/or leadership experience at professional organizations
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe products, and electronic health record system
• Multilingual skills, preferred languages: Spanish & Chinese languages.
