Full Specialist (Dr. Luke Gilbert Lab)

A Full Specialist position is currently available for immediate employment in the lab of Dr. Luke Gilbert at the University of California, San Francisco in the Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Building (at the Mission Bay campus). Research will involve understanding the role of anti-cancer therapeutics targeting the DNA damage response in aggressive prostate cancer. This includes identifying the requirement for adaptive stress response pathways in rewiring DNA damage response and DNA damage repair in human cancer cell models and tumors. The candidate will have the opportunity to publish their research in preeminent scientific journals such as Cell, Nature, eLife, and PNAS. Responsibilities and technical expertise: Using techniques available in the UCSF Department of Urology, including pharmacological and genetic tools, the candidate will engage in research on elucidating genes that regulate response and resistance to inhibition of DNA repair pathways by anti-cancer drugs in prostate cancer.

Required Qualifications:
• Must have a PhD degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, or Cellular Biology
• More than 5 years postdoctoral research experience
• Must have experience in the area of DNA damage response with a particular focus on anti-cancer therapeutics and understanding the role of adaptive stress responses that regulate cancer cell survival.
• All requirements must be met by the start date

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Experience in functional genomics, CRISPR, the DNA damage response and cancer therapy is highly preferred.
• Applicant must be an effective communicator, detail-oriented and organized, able to take the initiative to address research issues, and work independently, and collaborate well with other members of the lab.
• A two-year commitment is highly preferred.
