Position description

SFVAHCS – Endocrinology – Clinician-Educator

The UCSF Department of Medicine is seeking an endocrinologist for a part-time clinician-educator faculty position in the Endocrinology and Metabolism Section at the San Francisco VA Health Care System.

The SFVAHCS Endocrinology Division enjoys a long tradition of distinction in clinical care, education, and research. We seek an endocrinologist at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level who will be appointed in the appropriate academic series based on background and qualifications. The successful candidate will have experience teaching at various levels (medical students, residents, fellows); providing E-consults; coordinating multi-disciplinary teams; and working across multiple health systems. Responsibilities will also include clinical administrative functions; fellowship program education initiatives and site coordination; cross-campus tumor board participation; and clinical work at more than one UCSF-affiliated and/or VA site. There is an expectation that over time the faculty member will develop a focused area of clinical expertise and creative efforts; clinical areas of particular need are thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, type 1 diabetes, and lipid metabolism. The faculty member will participate fully in the clinical, educational, and service activities of the Division and the larger Medical Service.

Applicants must be US citizens and board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, with a valid US medical license. Excellent communication skills are expected.

Experience providing E-Consults, experience teaching at various levels (medical students, residents, fellows), and clinical focus on thyroid cancer, pituitary, adrenal, and/or lipid metabolism is preferred.

Applicants must also be eligible for appointment at the VA. The VA’s basic qualification standards may be found at http://www.vacareers.va.gov/application-process/navigating/before-you-apply.asp

Applicant’s materials must list all current and/or pending qualifications upon submission.

Please apply online with CV, cover letter, statement of teaching, statement of contributions to diversity, and contact information for 3 references.
