Position description

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic person to join our research group as a junior research specialist. The Ansel laboratory is a basic immunology laboratory studying T cell biology and allergic inflammation in lungs and skin. For this position, you would work with Dr. Marlys Fassett, a senior post-doctoral fellow in the Ansel lab who studies how nerves and cells of the skin immune system interface during inflammatory responses. The individual hired for the available position will become a key member in our group, who will support aspects of lab management as well as specific ongoing research projects. This individual will be responsible for processing and flow cytometric analysis of human and mouse tissue, mouse husbandry, genotyping and other animal procedures, and assisting post-doctoral fellows and graduate students in the lab in other aspects of their work. Up to 10% of time will be dedicated to general lab support, such as ordering and receiving of supplies. The ideal candidate will have completed relevant coursework and have hands-on research experience in immunology. There is opportunity to eventually drive/direct an independent research sub-project upon demonstration of meeting other requirements of the position. Depending upon prior experience and interest, these opportunities may include immunofluorescence microscopy, analysis of RNA-sequencing data, or development of novel assays to model the relationship between sensory nerves and other skin cell types in vitro.
