Assistant or Associate Professor, In-Residence

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for full-time faculty positions at assistant or associate rank, in the In-Residence series.

The UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is the largest department of epidemiology in the University of California system and has a strong mission in education, research and clinical activities. The Department provides a supportive academic environment for original research, including opportunities for collaboration with researchers from other departments and UCSF Schools, as well as teaching and mentoring as part of our Master’s Degree in Clinical Research, our doctoral program in Epidemiology and Translational Science, and other training programs.

Duties: The successful candidates will conduct epidemiologic, population-based, and/or clinical research funded by extramural sources and be committed to regular and ongoing teaching. There are also opportunities for leadership within the department.

Qualifications: Doctorate in medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health or a closely related field. Candidates must have a record of excellence and accomplishment in original research in population-based or clinical epidemiology and extramural funding for research in areas of interest. Preference will be given to candidates with areas of research compatible with current departmental programs and who have a demonstrated track record in transitioning to independent research and associated research funding. Candidates must have current or recently awarded extramural funding for research in areas of interest and the ability to provide funding of own salary through extramural and other self-generated funding. Examples would include – transitioning to the R00 portion of a K99-R00 grant, PI or MPI of an NIH R01 or equivalent research grant from another funding agency.
