The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital-San Francisco is seeking a board eligible/board certified pediatrician to serve as a hospitalist providing coverage in a multidisciplinary Transitional Care Unit.

The ideal candidate would possess either 2-3 years inpatient hospitalist experience, have completed a hospitalist medicine fellowship or additional training in critical care. The position is full-time, serving as the dedicated Transitional Care Unit attending for 16-18 clinical weeks/year, Mon-Fri, 7am-5pm with no night time call and the expectation of providing weekend coverage approximately 2 times/month from 7am-12pm. Opportunities to work in the PICU also exist for those candidates board eligible/board certified in Pediatric Critical Care.

The Pediatric Transitional Care Unit is a 16-bed monitored unit that provides care to a multidisciplinary population of patients that include: post-operative orthopedic, ENT, neurosurgical, renal transplant, complex GI and hepatology patients, and medically fragile and complex children with special needs. The front-line team includes pediatric residents (R2), hospital employed physicians, and advance practice providers. Daily rounds occur in a multi-disciplinary fashion supported by pharmacy, social work, case management and a dietician. The position is supported by the critical care division with nighttime coverage provided by an in-house intensivist.

The position would include an appointment as a Health Sciences (HS) Clinical Assistant Professor at UCSF in the Division of Critical Care. During off service time, there is potential opportunity for career development in hospital-based quality and Process Improvement, complex care delivery through critical care faculty mentorship, or additional coursework offered through UCSF, focused programmatic involvement.
