Position description

Faculty Position, Reproductive Health
ANSIRH / Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences / UCSF

Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health
Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) is a dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary research group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). We conduct innovative, rigorous research on complex issues related to people’s sexual and reproductive lives, with a goal of informing improved reproductive health policy and clinical practice. Our vision is to create a world in which all people have the resources, support and freedom to achieve reproductive well-being. ANSIRH is committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace. We are an equal opportunity employer and we recruit and hire with understanding of the lived realities of people who have experienced systemic oppression. Visit www.ansirh.org for more about our mission and vision.

Job Summary
ANSIRH is seeking a faculty member to join our team and pursue a program of research of their own design within our program, in line with our mission and vision. We strongly encourage individuals from groups traditionally underrepresented in research and medicine to apply. We seek social scientists or clinical researchers (e.g., PhD, DrPH, or clinical degree with research experience) with expertise in quantitative or qualitative social science research, including in health behavior, demography, epidemiology, sociology, psychology, anthropology, health economics, health services research, program evaluation, medicine, nursing, and/or related disciplines. The faculty member must demonstrate an established focus on sexual and reproductive health in their work or a commitment to expanding their research into investigating sexual and reproductive health or issues affecting people’s sexual and reproductive lives. We are particularly interested in researchers who focus on racial equity or justice in their work, or involve communities of color directly in their research (e.g., via community-based participatory research), though these are not requirements. Our hope is to hire a faculty member who will bring their unique perspectives and research questions to drive ANSIRH’s research in important new directions, while also contributing a synergy with ANSIRH faculty to strengthen our program’s production of scientific knowledge related to people’s sexual and reproductive lives.

Funding
This is a soft money appointment (i.e. funded through grants) at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank; academic rank and track will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The faculty member will receive initial salary coverage of up to 50-100% full-time effort for 1 to 3 years, with the amount of support based upon the successful candidate’s existing grant funding and rank. The faculty member will be expected to obtain research grant funding to sustain their ongoing salary support and program of research.
As UCSF employees, ANSIRH faculty have access to a comprehensive benefits package (retirement, health, dental, commuter, etc.), as well professional development opportunities, wellness programs, and many other benefits (https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/working-at-uc/index.html). In addition, ANSIRH prioritizes continuous learning, work-life balance, and employee engagement.
