Department of Anesthesia General Faculty Search

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is seeking faculty to work as a part of a team emphasizing high quality, patient-centered perioperative care with a focus on evidence-based medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity to join an established Anesthesia Department with a national reputation of excellence in education, research, and perioperative care.

Anesthesia faculty participate as a part of a team that includes over 160 full-time faculty, 60 voluntary faculty, 15 non-faculty academic appointees,100 ACGME trainees (including interns, residents and fellows),10 postdoctoral research fellows, 170 staff personnel and 50 CRNAs. The Department has essential roles in patient care outside of the operating rooms, with active participation in Ambulatory Care, Acute and Chronic Pain, and the Preoperative Clinic. UCSF Health encompasses four main campuses -- the UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights, the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (a Level 1 Trauma Center), Mt. Zion Medical Center and Benioff Children's, Betty Irene Moore Women’s and Bakar Cancer Hospitals at Mission Bay.

Successful applicants will demonstrate an aptitude for and dedication to medical education and providing evidence based, high quality care in clinical teams that enhance the patient experience with a commitment to patient safety and satisfaction. Applicants are expected to teach residents and medical students; participate in University service, faculty meetings, monthly Grand Rounds and M&M conferences; contribute to quality assurance programs and continuing education; and advance the mission of the department.

The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications by time of hire:
• Must hold an MD, DO or equivalent degree.
• Must possess a valid California Medical License.
• Must be fellowship trained or have equivalent advanced training and/or experience beyond that of anesthesia residency training.
• Must be board eligible or certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology, or have equivalent certification and/or experience for internationally trained medical graduates.
• Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.
• Applicant must have all requirements met by time of hire.

Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with experience and achievements.
