The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California San Francisco seeks a faculty member with a focus on conducting clinical research including, but not limited to, epidemiologic studies, clinical trials, observational cohort studies, community-based research, and/or implementation science.

We are particularly interested in increasing the diversity of our research faculty and in strengthening our research portfolio related to health equity and health disparities, including social determinants of health and structural racism and its impact on women’s health. Candidates that are under-represented in medicine are encouraged to apply.

Research content must be related to obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive sciences, and/or the care of sexual and gender minorities. The candidate must be either a board eligible or certified obstetrician/gynecologist or a PhD with expertise in women’s health research at the level of Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

The primary focus of the Faculty is to develop and sustain an independent research career in Obstetrics and/or Gynecology. The Faculty member will devote >50% time to research activities including designing, implementing, and disseminating research. If MD, faculty will spend approximately 25% time in clinical activities that can be structured to their interests and clinical training to include outpatient and inpatient care of general obstetric and gynecologic patients, labor and delivery, and gynecologic surgery. Faculty are also expected to provide research mentoring, teaching, and support to medical students, residents, and fellows, and to collaborate with research and non-research faculty in the division.

The successful candidate will have advanced formal training in research methods including biostatistics, and a track record of success in conducting research and disseminating/publishing their work. Associate or Full Professor candidates are expected to have independent funding to support their research activities. Instructor and Assistant level candidates are expected to have submitted or plan to submit independent grants within the first 2 years as Faculty.

If hired, an MD faculty is expected to apply for a CA medical license and be licensed to practice medicine in California by the time of appointment.

Salary and academic rank will be at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Professor level, commensurate with experience and achievements.
