The Department of Dermatology is seeking a Research Specialist at the Junior or Assistant level. We are a basic immunology laboratory that studies how the immune system functions in both mouse and human tissues. The position will primarily consist of being a key member of our cutaneous immunology group (Cutaneous Immunology Core and the Rosenblum lab). This individual will be responsible for retrieving, processing, and flow cytometric analysis of human tissue. This position will also include skills such as CyTOF Mass Spectrometry and RNA sequencing. It will also involve a significant amount of lab support (20% of the time), such as mouse dissection and assisting post-doctoral fellows and graduate students in the lab. There is opportunity to eventually drive/direct an independent research project.
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of equivalent research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment, social science research methods, or creative activities). Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or at least five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. A 2-year commitment to working in the lab is also required.
