Junior Specialist – Ku Lab

The Diabetes Center at University of California, San Francisco is seeking for a Junior Specialist. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting experiments on immune and pancreatic beta cells relevant to type 1 and type 2 diabetes using in vivo mouse models and in vitro tissue culture of human cells.

The applicant must possess a baccalaureate degree in biology or chemistry, with basic laboratory experience through coursework or through work in a research laboratory; expertise in cell culture techniques, mouse handling, genotyping, flow cytometry, and molecular biology laboratory skill (e.g. plasmid DNA purification, genotyping); experience and/or willingness to learn to handle rodents is desirable.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
