Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist Non-Faculty Academic position in Biostatistical Data Analysis sought with F.I. Proctor Foundation, University of California, San Francisco

The incumbent will join a collaborative and exciting team at the F.I. Proctor Foundation studying infectious/inflammatory eye diseases in the U.S. and internationally. Researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation investigate ocular infectious and inflammatory diseases in children and adults. Research projects include cluster and individually randomized trials, clinical trials that involve domestic and international collaboration, as well as “big data” research using administrative claims data. The incumbent will be asked to contribute to study design from a methodological standpoint, take responsibility for database creation, data management, programming, statistical analyses, and provide assistance with grant writing and publications.

Specialists appointed at the Assistant or Associate rank at minimum must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) in Public Health, Biostatistics, or related field or at least five years of experience in the relevant specialization. Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) in Public Health, Biostatistics, or related field or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization. Candidates must meet the qualifications by the time of appointment. For this position, a PhD is preferred.

This position requires someone who can be relied upon for primary statistical analyses of a complex nature, play an integral role in designing new research studies (including international clinical trials), design and manage databases for data collection, and draft grants, analysis plans and manuscripts. The incumbent should show an interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to the state of knowledge on the prevention, treatment and correlates of disease. The incumbent must be able to multi-task, problem-solve and apply creative solutions to new and unexpected situations with limited supervision. The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively with collaborators and have strong writing skills. Experience with large administrative claims data is a plus for this position.
