Assistant Professional Research Scientist
Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging

The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is looking for a researcher who is interested in an Assistant Professional Research Scientist position at UCSF. We are looking for a scientist to work on projects in the Vascular Imaging Research Center, coordinated by Dr. David Saloner, PhD and Dr. Michael Hope, MD. The lab focuses on development of advanced methods for evaluation of vascular disease.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD and strong expertise in a number of the following areas:

  1. Development of accelerated methods for providing high resolution images of the vessel wall
  2. Expertise in development, implementation, and optimization of pulse sequence programs on the Siemens MRI platform
  3. Image postprocessing and analysis from multi-contrast data sets
  4. Familiarity with the pathology of vascular disease We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in MRI physics that has the ability to perform independent research.

The Vascular Imaging Research Center is dedicated to translational imaging research, including development of advanced imaging methods that are utilized in longitudinal studies of individuals with atherosclerotic and/or aneurysmal vascular disease. The candidate is expected to assist in broader lab activities, particularly related to imaging analysis of MRI studies of the vasculature. Images must be post-processed for biomarker quantification using in-house and commercial software. Our large database of vascular imaging studies allows the candidate to generate hypothesis driven retrospective and prospective trials. The candidate will be expected to lead manuscript preparation and to apply for grant funding, both intra and extramural.

The candidate must possess a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Physics, Bioengineering, or a closely related field. CV must reflect previous training and research experience.
