Chang Lab - Junior Specialist
Position description
Organization: University of California, San Francisco
Location: Mission Bay, San Francisco CA
Position Type: Full time
JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a graduating senior or recent college graduate for a Junior Specialist position in the laboratory of Andy Chang in the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UCSF. The lab is interested in how animals sense oxygen and other metabolic cues to regulate breathing and cardiovascular function from the molecular to whole animal level. The junior specialist will work with the PI and others in the lab to carry out experiments in molecular biology, cell and tissue culture, fixed and live imaging, electrophysiology, and whole animal physiology as well as contribute to lab duties as assigned. Contribution as co-authors to publications is expected, and an independent project would be encouraged depending on the candidate’s experience, ability, and flexibility with work schedule. Given the nature of the work, candidates ultimately interested in graduate school are particularly encouraged to apply.
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
