UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, San Francisco and Oakland

The UCSF Division of Developmental Medicine at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, San Francisco and Oakland, is seeking to appoint part-time pediatricians with specific expertise and training in Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics. The candidates selected for these positions may be appointed to the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor ranks of the Health Sciences Clinical faculty series, and will be based in San Francisco, Oakland, or both. The appointees will work closely with Developmental Behavioral Pediatricians, General Pediatricians, Child Psychiatrists and Psychologists, and other providers to perform clinical evaluations and provide long-term management of a wide range of neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders for children from highly diverse San Francisco Bay Area communities. Appointees will have demonstrated interest and experience in addressing Social Determinants of Health in our community. As UCSF is a major training center in Northern California, our faculty teach, mentor, and supervise medical students, Pediatric residents, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry residents, and trainees from a variety of other disciplines. The selected candidate must be board certified in General Pediatrics and possess an active California Medical License.

With the UCSF Department of Psychiatry, we are now building a new Child, Teen and Family Center scheduled to open in 2020 adjacent to the Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco. This new, multidisciplinary clinical, training, and research center on child mental health and development will co-locate and support individuals experienced in working effectively with other disciplines, with families, and with schools and community agencies.

The Division of Developmental Medicine (SF), under the leadership of Dr. Nicole Bush and Dr. Bryan King, has strong and growing collaborative relationships with the Divisions of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, General Pediatrics, and Child Neurology in San Francisco, and the Division of Mental Health and Child Development, the Neonatal Follow-up Program, Early Intervention Services, and the Center on the Vulnerable Child in Oakland. Leadership, faculty and staff from both sides of the bay are highly engaged in activities to build progressive integrated models of patient care that attend to the social determinants of health and the complex needs of the families of our patients.
