PHYSICIAN – Chief of Medicine

Department of Veterans Affairs Central California Health Care System, Fresno, CA, affiliated with the University of California- San Francisco Medical Education Program and leader in health care quality is recruiting for a full-time faculty member for the Chief of Medicine position. Considering qualified applicants from any medical specialty or subspecialty. This position reports to the Chief of Staff and is responsible for leading a vibrant and growing clinical service line. Experience in the oversight of Medical Education and Allied Health, Performance Improvement, Management of Ancillary Services, Facility Resources, and demonstrated broad-reaching leadership qualities and organizational stewardship is highly recommend. The incumbent maintains credentialing as a physician and provides direct patient care in his/her specialty. S/he has a faculty appointment with an academic affiliate or qualifies for such an appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. VA provides patient-centered care, delivered by engaged, collaborative teams in an integrated environment that supports learning and continuous improvement. The candidate we are looking for must be a physician of high caliber and have outstanding clinical, interpersonal and leadership skills. As a member of the VA professional leadership team, the candidate must be knowledgeable in supervisory duties, have extensive experience in administrative responsibilities, and oversee high quality veteran-centered care within the service. Our leadership team embodies the VA values, vision and mission, and is expected to exemplify a strong work ethic, integrity and high quality standards. Interested applicants must be able to demonstrate these characteristics. Candidate must have a medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent), must be eligible to obtain a US medical license and be board certified or eligible. Fresno is located 3 hours south of San Francisco and just 2 hours from 3 national parks, including Yosemite, and year-round recreation.
