Description

The Krummel Lab is now recruiting for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist. Areas of specialization and/or responsibilities for this position include:
• Serving as point of contact for laboratory safety, including trainings, maintenance of all lab areas in order to meet safety standards; purchasing and storage of emergency supplies.
• Identifying, purchasing, and inventorying all lab supplies, instruments, software, computers, and repositories (e.g. PBMCs, tumor cells, RNA/DNA, chemicals, etc.).
• Directly supervising lab technicians, including one-on-one meetings, and supporting postdocs and/or clinical fellows where needed.
• Creating and monitoring lab technicians’ processing schedules and allocating lab resources where appropriate.
• Onboarding and training new lab members, rotation students, and visitors in standard operating procedures, proper use of equipment, and safety protocols.
• Ensuring that all human and mouse IRBs are in place and assisting in updating expired IRBs where needed.
• Establishing and/or maintaining robust sample acquisition and transfer pipelines across 15+ cancer indications in coordination with clinical research coordinators.
• Ensuring and participating in data capture, storage, analysis, QC, and upload into the Immunoprofiler database in a timely and efficient manner.
• Participating and/or driving specific projects toward publications by interfacing with faculty, postdocs and clinical fellows, and bioinformaticians, including playing a significant authorship role in select projects.
• Participating in regular team meetings and QC meetings for research, and occasional external outreach activities to the community.
• Maintaining the Immunoprofiler web page and databases.

Minimum required qualifications:
• M.S. or equivalent degree in life sciences with 5 years of lab management experience in relevant specialization.
• Experience in cellular and molecular biology or chemistry.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal verbal, and writing skills in English.

Preferred qualifications:
• Prior supervisorial experience.
• Experience in flow cytometry/FlowJo, preparation for RNA/DNA sequencing, fluorescence microscopy, and tissue culture.
• Incumbent is expected to work well as part of a team and have enthusiasm for the practice of science.

Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
