Associate Specialist – Kwok Lab
Cardiovascular Research Institute is now seeking applicants for an Associate Specialist. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. The area of specialization entails bioinformatics, human genetics, and human genome analysis for disease mutation discovery. PhD degree and at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience in analyzing next-generation sequencing data and genome mapping data for genome assembly and disease gene mutation identification is required. Skill in computer programming and use of computer tools for structural variation is also required. We prefer candidates who are familiar with whole genome sequencing data based on 10x Genomics linked-read sequencing and analysis of Bionano genome mapping data. Ability to compare sequencing and mapping data in trios (patient and biological parents) is helpful.
