Job description: The Bush lab at the Parnassus campus of UCSF is looking to appoint a Specialist to conduct research in developmental biology by the establishment of CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis techniques. The position will involve the generation of novel mouse lines by utilization of CRISPR/Cas9 methodologies.

An enthusiastic, organized individual with a minimum of BA/BS or equivalent in cell/molecular biology or related sciences with one or more years of laboratory or mouse transgenic core experience, including experience with mouse genetics; ability to organize data and keep detailed records; proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel; excellent communication skills in English; flexibility and willingness to work on multiple projects; and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Direct experience with at least one of the following is required: Mouse transgenesis by pronuclear injection, gene targeting in mouse ES cells, CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis.

Job Responsibilities: Perform experiments and data analysis under the direction of PI. Tasks will include the establishment and troubleshooting of protocols for the generation of transgenic mouse lines. Additional duties will include participation in basic lab support activities and actively participating in group meetings.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None required.

Physical Requirements: Normal physical requirements include good visual acuity and accurate color discrimination. The position requires excellent manual dexterity and familiarity utilizing delicate instrumentation.
