Physician, Associate Chief of Staff for Research & Development (ACOS/R&D), VACCHCS

California- Department of Veterans Affairs California Health Care System, Fresno, CA, affiliated with University of California- San Francisco Medical Residency Program, leader in health care quality is recruiting for a .5 FTE Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development (ACOS/R&D) and .5 FTE physician interested in research, clinical and teaching activities. The Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development fosters a research program characterized by the highest standards for the conduct of research and for the protection of human subjects. The ACOS/R&D is responsible for the day to day oversight of VACCHS research program. The ACOS/R&D fosters the growth of research to ultimately improve the health and well-being of Veterans. The ACOS/R&D ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations for the oversight and review of research and research finances. The ACOS/R&D should have research, patient care and teaching responsibilities, but shall not have other major administrative responsibilities. The ACOS/R&D provides educational instruction and training for UCSF Fresno residents/fellows and/or medical students as appropriate, and ensures that a robust educational curriculum is followed to meet the educational needs of undergraduate and post-graduate training program and to ensure high standards in the delivery of clinical care.

The ACOS/R&D physician must have outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills as a member of the VA professional health care team, and providing continuous veteran-centered care for a variety of medical ailments. The successful candidate must be board certified in Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, Surgery, or Psychiatry and have a residency completed in one of the above referenced departments. Candidate must have a Medical Degree (MD, DO or equivalent) and eligible to obtain a US medical license. Fresno is located 3 hours south of San Francisco and just 2 hours from 3 national parks, including Yosemite, and year-round recreation.
