The Diabetes Center is seeking an Junior Specialist. The candidate will be responsible for generation of multiple pancreatic islet cell types through directed differentiation from human Pluripotent Stem Stells (hPSCs); namely alpha, beta and delta cells. Cells will be used to determine aspects of human islet cell biology and might also be employed for drug screening purposes.
The ability to work proficiently with hPSCs is required. Furthermore generation of novel reporter tools through gene editing approaches such as CRIPSR and lentivirus as well as general molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (including but not limited to qPCR, FACS, HIS, Microscopy and DNA sequencing) will be used to investigate the efficiency of differentiations. The candidate will be required to keep highly organized laboratory notebooks and to implement standard operating procedures to allow for production of highly reproducible and defined methods.
Candidates must have a BA/BS in biological sciences or a related science or at least 4 years of related work experience. Strong organization skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision is key for this position. All of the requirements must be met by the appointment date.
