Surgical Pathologist, subspecialty

The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time faculty position as a Surgical Pathologist. The position entails surgical pathology sign-out responsibilities with an emphasis on bone and soft tissue pathology. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated and participated in clinical and/or translational research. She/he is expected to participate in night and weekend surgical pathology call, departmental teaching activities for medical students, house-staff, and fellows, and interdepartmental conferences. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills.

Candidates must have an MD degree, a valid California medical license (or qualifications to obtain one at the time of appointment), and be Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Qualified applicants must demonstrate subspecialty expertise in musculoskeletal pathology. Expertise in musculoskeletal pathology includes either completion of a formal bone and soft tissue fellowship at the time of hire or experience primarily doing bone and soft tissue subspecialty sign-out in an academic department. Publication record specifically in musculoskeletal pathology is preferred. Salary and appointment rank (Assistant/Associate Professor level in the Clinical X Series) will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training. This position is based in the Department of Pathology, primarily at the Mission Bay campus.
