VACCHCS Emergency Room Physician

The Department of Internal Medicine -Veterans Affairs Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS) is seeking a full-time faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full in the HS Clinical series depending on qualifications and interests. This position will serve as an Emergency Room physician. The VA Central California Healthcare System services Veterans in Fresno by supporting a Level III Emergency Department. This area of the hospital has a high volume and treats patients that are acutely and critically ill. It is essential that the physicians that work in this area have the appropriate knowledge base and skill set to safely manage our Veterans. Physicians in this area should be residency trained in Emergency Medicine or residency trained in Internal Medicine, Surgery or Family Practice with experience in an Emergency Medicine practice environment. A physician should also be board certified in their respective Specialty. The successful candidate should be eligible to obtain a California medical license. A physician must also be proficient in managing medical and surgical emergencies that can present in the midst of lower acuity patients. This position will function as an important member of the UCSF Fresno residency and fellowship programs. VACCHCS is a Complexity Level II health care facility. We have an active and expanding clinical research program. Faculty appointment with UCSF will be commensurate with the applicant’s background and accomplishments. The program is located in Fresno, California, a vibrant, growing but affordable community in the Central California Valley just a short drive to Yosemite and other national parks.
