Position description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Experimental Medicine is seeking a physician scientist for a full time faculty position. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant in the Adjunct Professor series depending on qualifications and interests.

Faculty in the Adjunct Professor series are individuals who are predominantly engaged in research or other creative work and who participate in teaching, or individuals who contribute primarily to teaching and have a limited responsibility for research or other creative work; these individuals may be professional practitioners of appropriate distinction. The individual in this position will be a physician scientist with a strong background in immunology research, especially as it applies to understanding mechanisms and limitations of immunity to tuberculosis. Appointees with titles in this series also engage in University and public service consistent with their assignments.

Requirements:
• The position requires an MD and/or PhD degree and subsequent fellowship training with extensive experience working at Biosafety Level 3, including work with experimental mouse models of M. tuberculosis infection. Additional requirements include experience generating and applying complex genetic tools to address specific questions and hypotheses related to immunity to M. tuberculosis.

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:
• The individual in this role will have a proven track record of obtaining peer reviewed extramural funding and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Clinical experience will be beneficial, to assure appropriate focus on the goal of generating information that can be translated to humans.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $121,100-$158,000. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
